The National Cat Show
The National Cat-Show was terribly
grand,
With cats there of all shapes and sizes.
The judges, too, were
a very posh lot
As they summed-up the cats and gave prizes.
But there
wasn't a cat in that very great show
That seemed half as worthy as my moggy
Joe.
Joe is a rather aggressive old cat
Which is proved by the
state of his ears.
They are frayed at the edges, his nose too is scarred,
Which earns him respect from his peers.
But there wasn't a cat in that
very great show
That looked half as brave as my moggy Joe.
The
Asians had coats which were short and compact.
The Persians had fur that
was silky.
There were spotteds and tabbies and bi-colours too
And
'creams' that, in truth, were more 'milky'.
But there wasn't a cat in that
very great show
With fur half as thick as my moggy Joe.
Some
breeds there were said to be terribly rare
And some were worth thousands of
pounds.
They must sleep on cushions embroidered with gold
In houses
where money abounds.
But there wasn't a cat in that very great show
That
I'd think of swapping for my moggy Joe.
One winning cat's eyes were
the deepest of blue.
An Asian had eyes that looked mean.
There were
white cats with each eye a different hue!
One black's were the brightest of
green.
But there wasn't a cat in that very great show
With eyes half
as loving as my moggy Joe.
